Metrics & Formulas

Definitions and formulas for every metric shown in the NavonaAI dashboard.

This page defines every metric shown in your NavonaAI dashboard and explains exactly how each one is calculated.

All metrics are based on your Online Store channel only. Orders from other sales channels (such as Amazon, eBay, or POS) and manually created draft orders are excluded.

Simplified Dashboard

The simplified dashboard shows three headline cards that give you an at-a-glance view of your store's abandonment impact.

Abandoned Cart Value

The total value of every cart created in the period that never became an order. We add up what was actually in each cart at the moment it was abandoned — a direct sum, not an extrapolation from your sales.

Abandoned Cart Value = SUM(value of each abandoned cart)

Carts flagged as bot traffic, and carts whose quantities exceed your bot protection thresholds, are left out of the sum. This is what is still recoverable, not money that left your account.

Before 24 April 2026 this was an estimate. Any part of a date range falling before that date is still calculated as (Total Sales / Cart-to-Order Rate) - Total Sales, and a range straddling the date blends the two. A small number of legacy stores remain on the estimate for every date range.

Does not account for returns or refunds.

Abandonment Rate

The percentage of carts that didn't convert to a completed order.

Abandonment Rate = (Abandoned Carts / Carts Created) x 100

Your abandonment rate is ranked against industry benchmarks:

RatingRange
Excellent42% or below
Good42.1% – 52.5%
Average52.6% – 70%
Below Average70.1% – 77%
Poor77.1% – 81.9%
CriticalAbove 81.9%

Industry average cart abandonment is around 70%. If your rate is significantly higher, review the Recovery Strategies section for actionable improvements.

Daily Impact

Abandoned cart value divided by the days it was actually measured over.

Daily Impact = Abandoned Cart Value / Days Measured

Days measured is not the same as the days you selected. Abandoned cart value only counts time the NavonaAI app embed was running, so the divisor leaves out any period the embed was off. If the embed was down for half your range, the divisor is half the calendar days — dividing by the full range would understate both this figure and the monthly projection below it.

The card also shows a projected monthly impact calculated as Daily Impact x 30. Does not account for returns or refunds.

AI Prevention Metrics

When AI Prevention is enabled, four additional cards appear showing how the prevention system is performing.

Interventions Shown

The total number of exit-intent popups displayed to shoppers during the selected date range.

Conversions

The number of popups that led to a completed purchase. A shopper counts as a conversion when they see the popup, accept the offer, and complete checkout.

Prevention Rate

The percentage of interventions that resulted in a conversion.

Prevention Rate = (Conversions / Interventions Shown) x 100

Added Revenue

Total sales value of orders where NavonaAI prevented cart abandonment. Includes taxes, shipping, and discounts already deducted. Does not account for returns or refunds.

Revenue Breakdown

The Total Sales Impact Summary shows a three-way revenue comparison:

MetricFormula
Without NavonaAIOrders Revenue - Prevention Revenue
AI Prevention ImpactPrevention Revenue
With NavonaAIOrders Revenue (total)

A Revenue increase % is shown when prevention revenue is greater than zero:

Revenue Increase = (Prevention Revenue / (Orders Revenue - Prevention Revenue)) x 100

This helps you see exactly how much revenue NavonaAI is contributing. Based on total sales at time of purchase — does not account for returns or refunds.

Deep Analytics

The deep analytics view provides additional granular metrics for power users.

Total Sales

Sum of each order's total price at time of purchase. This includes taxes and shipping, with discounts already deducted. Unlike Shopify's Total Sales, this does not account for returns, refunds, or post-purchase order edits.

Abandoned Cart Value

Same as the simplified dashboard — the summed value of carts that never converted.

Daily Impact

Same as the simplified dashboard — abandoned cart value per day measured.

Avg Lost Order Value

Avg Lost Order Value = Abandoned Cart Value / Abandoned Carts

Treat this as approximate. Carts whose quantities exceed the bot-protection thresholds are left out of Abandoned Cart Value but still counted in Abandoned Carts, so the average sits slightly below a true per-cart figure. (Carts flagged as bot traffic are removed from both, so they do not skew it.)

Cart to Order Funnel

A step-by-step breakdown of your conversion funnel:

  • Carts Created — Total carts started
  • Orders — Carts that converted to completed orders
  • Abandoned — Carts that did not convert

Each step shows the conversion rate between stages.

AI Prevention Funnel

A detailed view of the prevention system's performance:

  • Carts — Total carts in the period
  • Popups Shown — How many shoppers saw the exit-intent popup
  • Accepted — How many shoppers accepted the offer
  • Converted — How many accepted offers led to completed orders

Each step shows the rate, so you can identify where shoppers drop off.

Most Abandoned Products

Products from abandoned carts, sorted by revenue at risk. A single cart can contain multiple products, so the total number of abandoned products will typically be higher than the total number of abandoned carts.

Date Range Behavior

  • "Last N days" = N days before today (e.g., "Last 3 days" = 3 days before today)
  • "Include today" toggle adds the current partial day on top of the selected range (making it N+1 days total)
  • All dates are calculated in your store's timezone

Because today's data is incomplete (the day hasn't ended), including today can make trends appear to dip at the end of a chart. This is normal and expected.

Bot Protection

NavonaAI automatically filters out suspicious carts using quantity thresholds to keep your metrics accurate.

  • Max total quantity (default: 100) — Carts with more than this many total items are excluded
  • Max item quantity (default: 50) — Carts where any single product exceeds this quantity are excluded

Carts exceeding either threshold are left out of Abandoned Cart Value, so a bot loading up a cart cannot inflate your recoverable revenue. They are still counted in the cart counts — Carts Created, Abandoned Carts and therefore Abandonment Rate — which is why Avg Lost Order Value reads slightly low. You can adjust these thresholds in your dashboard settings under Bot Protection.
